The brain child of Sarode Maestro Pandit Tejendra Narayan Majumder, his wife vocalist Mansi Majumder and son Sarode player Indrayuddh Majumder, the Swara Samrat festival is celebrating its 8th season. As an homage to the Swara Samrat Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, the SSF is a platform not only to behold the legends and maestros but also to showcase and bring young talent under the limeLight. This initiative of bringing forth the future generation in classical music and giving them the opportunity to share the stage with stall words was devised by Tejendra Narayan Majumder and his son Indrayudh Majumdar.
The last seven Seasons have witnessed performances of virtuosos in Indian classical music which have made SF the biggest fair for classical music not only in India but also in the world. the stage of Swara Samrat festival lets up with maestros like Ustad Zakir Hussain, Pandit Birju Maharaj, Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, Pandit Jasraj, Ustad Aashish Khan, doctor Girija Devi, Begum Parveen Sultana, Pandit Swapan Chaudhari, Guru Karaikudi Mani,Ustad Rashid Khan, Shankar Mahadevan,Pandit Ajoy Chakraborty, Pandit anindo Chatterjee, Guru Sujata Mahapatra, Pandit Bikram Ghosh, Kaushiki Chakraborty and others.
SSF 2019-20 will start from 1st December 2019 at Uttam month and the season finale will be dedicated to the celebration of the centenary year of Bharat Ratna Pandit Ravi Shankar on 13th February 2020 at Nazrul Manch. The inauguration of this Grand festivity was held on vocalist Mansi Majumder’s birthday, surprising all the participants, son Indrayuddh brought a cake to celebrate the occasion. The inauguration also witnessed the participation of notable personalities in Indian classical music. The art which should be patronized and nurtured is on the verge of extinction. Thus the event ended with garnered message of supporting Indian classical music which is the Nation’s pride and a very integral element of India’s identity
