At a time when Bollywood is riding high on the #boycott trend, here’s Vijay Deverakonda’s upcoming movie Liger, which might give some hope to the exhibitors and distributors. At least, the advance booking for Liger is encouraging.
The film, also starring Ananya Panday, is set to hit theatres on August 25. Now, Liger, which is directed by Puri Jagannadh and marks Vijay’s Bollywood debut, has reportedly already grossed nearly Rs 1.70 crore in Telugu through the advance booking on the first day. Meanwhile, nearly 90,000 tickets have been sold so far. That’s not all. In Hyderabad, at least 15 per cent of the shows are already houseful.
A sports drama that features Vijay in the role of a Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter who has a speech problem, Liger will be released all across the country in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada. The Karan Johar production also includes Ramya Krishnan, Ronit Roy, and Makrand Deshpande, among others. The Baahubali actress plays Vijay’s mother in the biggie. Also, the film has Mike Tyson in a crucial role.
