After regaling the audiences with his performance in the blockbuster Aparajito, actor Jeetu Kamal is all set to win hearts with Arun Roy’s new film Aranyer Din Ratri. The Hiralal director announced his passion project on the birth anniversary of the veteran Bengali author Sunil Gangopadhyay, who has always mesmerized his readers across generations with his robust writings.

In 1970, Satyajit Ray had directed Aranyer Din Ratri based on Gangopadhyay’s novel with Soumitra Chatterjee, Subhendu Chatterjee, Sambit Bhanja, Rabi Ghosh, Sharmila Tagore, Kaberi Bose. Arun Roy’s team has Jeetu Kamal, Sohini Sarkar, Kinjal Nanda, Arno Mukhopadhyay and Anuska Chakraborty amongst others. Music is by Soumya Rit whereas Gopi Bhagat is the DOP and Sujoy Dutta Roy is the editor. Suven Kumar Das is the co-producer of the film.

Roy, who has previously made films like Egaro and Aath Baro will be adapting ‘Aranyer Din Ratri’ from the original novel written by Gangopadhyay in modern context. The story focuses on the lives of four friends who abandon their modern-day facilities and decide to go back to their roots, they set a journey in the wilderness to find themselves. Will they find peace? Does that word even exist? The story unfolds gradually.
