With few days left for Durga Puja, the organizers are coming up with unique themes to attract revelers. BIG FM, one of the leading radio networks in India, has embarked on yet another purpose-driven campaign called the BIG Green Durga. Yes, they want to make the puja eco-friendly and green.

The radio network has also roped in actress Rituparna Sengupta as the face of the campaign. With a power-packed team of RJs, celebs and the entire workforce, BIG FM will embark on this eco-friendly drive across the length and breadth of Kolkata to help the city celebrate the homecoming of Goddess Durga responsibly.

The entire campaign sees BIG FM venturing out on a waste collection drive across localities, schools, colleges, and offices in Kolkata. Striving for a greener nature, BIG FM will accumulate previously owned clothes, old newspapers, and the likes to mould them into the form of goddess Durga. The finest artisans will then make the idol with an aesthetic appeal. Adding excitement to BIG Green Durga are some of the most popular RJs of West Bengal, such as RJ Koushik, RJ Pamela, RJ Sumanta, and RJ Moubani, who will conduct a series of engagements at each stop to spread the festive cheer across Kolkata.

Talking about the green initiative, Sunil Kumaran, COO, BIG FM said, “Kolkata embodies the excitement and frenzy surrounding Durga Puja, and we at BIG FM are witnessing a major shift towards conscious living, thanks to the overwhelming response to our annual initiative. We hope that our honest efforts contribute to the larger cause of keeping the city habitable for future generations by inculcating an eco-friendly way of celebration.”

“It’s our duty to make Kolkata a greener city for future generations and ensure a conscious, sustainable living towards it. And what better time than the Durga Puja, when the entire city breaks into a frenzied euphoria. That’s the reason I am very happy to associate with Big Green Durga, the eco-friendly celebration by BIG FM and hope you all will join hands too. I’m sure, Ma Durga will bless us for this,” said Rituparna.

The annual initiative, which started on September 1, will culminate in Durga Puja that will take place from October 1 to October 5 at the Kund area, City Centre 1. Green Durga idol will be worshiped with full fervor along with cultural activities to engage the listeners. Sensitising its valued audience across its geographies, BIG FM reaffirms its commitment to protect nature through its BIG Green Durga initiative.
