As Behala’s popular club — Barisha Players Corner — celebrates 50th year of Durga Puja, this year they have decided to start afresh. Wait, before you draw any conclusion, here’s the clarification. Their theme in 2022 is Suddha Suchi.

“For Covid-19 pandemic, we couldn’t enjoy Durga Puja in the way we should have. Therefor, this year, we thought of starting afresh and hence the theme – Suddha Suchi,” said an organiser of the puja committee. The pandal, which has an ambience of a rural life, and exudes positivity and calmness, is one of the most sought-after attractions in South Kolkata. Also, given it’s Sourav Ganguly’s locality puja, the crowd keeps swelling.


Last year, Sharmila’s Showhouse was associated with the famed Barisha Players Corner Club. In fact, Sharmila Showhouse had introduced “Most Loved Puja” trophy for the first time in 2021. “We were proud that Barisha Players Corner Club bagged the first trophy for spreading love in puja. We handed over the trophy and certificate to the organisers,” said Sharmila Maiti, founder of Sharmila Showhouse.
